Emotional wellbeing practitioner

Harrogate
Compass Bloom (MHST)
Wellbeing practitioner
Posted: 1 July
Offer description

Compass Harrogate, England, United Kingdom

As an Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner, you’ll be doing work that matters; every single day. You’ll support children, young people and families across Harrogate with early help for low-level mental health and emotional wellbeing concerns, offering practical, goal-focused support that builds confidence, self-awareness and resilience.

This is a role with real variety. You’ll deliver 1:1 interventions in community spaces, offer advice and emotional health assessments, and work closely with families, schools, and local services to make sure no one slips through the gaps. Every interaction is a chance to make a difference whether you're providing space for a young person to open up for the first time, helping a parent feel supported, or linking a family into services that can help them thrive.

You'll also play a wider role in the system by training professionals, running health promotion events, and contributing to the design of resources that boost emotional wellbeing across the whole community. It’s a position that offers autonomy, creativity, and meaningful collaboration, all within a supportive team that shares your drive to make things better for children and families.

Primarily based from home (with Harrogate being your nominal office) you'll still get out and about visiting those who use our services, for meetings and other tasks.

If this role speaks to you, make a difference and help build brighter futures! Apply Now!

About You

You believe every young person deserves to feel heard, understood and supported. You know behaviour is communication, and sometimes one conversation can change everything. You bring empathy, warmth and a steady hand, staying solution focused even when things are tough. You’re driven by a commitment to doing the right thing, and you lead with the kind of compassion that helps young people feel safe and ready to move forward.

You’ll need:

* A qualification in mental health or working with children and young people (e.g. Youth Work, Psychology, Counselling)
* At least 1 year’s relevant post qualification experience
* Experience supporting children, young people and vulnerable groups
* Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, consent and Gillick competency
* Understanding of emotional wellbeing, risk taking behaviours and psychosocial interventions
* Strong communication skills to engage with young people, families and professionals
* Confidence working independently and managing a caseload
* IT and organisational skills, including case management systems
* Ability to analyse need and shape practical, tailored support
* A flexible, solution focused approach and strong commitment to safeguarding

You’ll need to travel in the surrounding area and hold a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.

Experience in advocacy, co production, evidence based practice or supervision will help you thrive but these aren’t dealbreakers.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk.
