Social Media Officer
Location: London
Interim position
Flexible working available- need to be available for company events and on site a minimum of 2 days per week.

A dynamic and ambitious education institution in London is looking for a Social Media Officer to join its Communications team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the social media voice of a future focused institution known for innovation, community impact, and a strong commitment to student success.
About the Role
This isn’t your average social media job. As Social Media Officer, you'll work in a growing, forward-thinking team where your ideas, energy, and content can make a real difference. You'll lead on planning and creating bold, visual-first content, especially short-form video, designed to engage diverse audiences across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and more. You’ll be part of the digital storytelling engine behind everything from student success stories to major events.
What You’ll Do
* Own and manage a vibrant social content calendar across multiple platforms
* Create high-impact video, photography and written content
* Spot emerging trends and react with speed and creativity
* Use platform insights and analytics to refine content and strategy
* Support other teams in boosting their social presence
* Lead on live event coverage, storytelling and audience engagement
* Encourage and amplify user-generated content
* Deliver training and support to colleagues in social best practices
* Help monitor conversations and support crisis comms where needed
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working in a large or complex organisation
* Proven success creating content that grows and engages audiences
* Skilled in video shooting, editing and visual storytelling
* Confident using analytics and scheduling tools (e.g. Sprout, Canva)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A natural collaborator who also works well independently
* Cool under pressure, organised, and highly creative
* Great with people
* Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or mobile editing tools
* Understanding of education or public sector comms
* Knowledge of SEO and social-first storytelling techniques
