We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Leader who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Nurse Team Leader will provide an efficient, safe and effective, service for all the patients attending the endoscopy unit and act as a leader of the nursing team, in providing a high standard of evidence based care.
The post holder will support the endoscopy Nursing team managers, deputise for them in their absence. Demonstrate expertise and leadership, in the delivery of care to patients.
Actively support continued education, training, and development of all staff and to work in a collaborative manner with referring teams and support staff.
This role will involve weekend working, Bank holiday's and on call rota working.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Care: Undertake and oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients undergoing a wide variety of endoscopic procedures (e.g., gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, ERCP).

Pre-Assessment: Manage and perform the pre-assessment of patients referred for urgent and routine endoscopy procedures to ensure they are medically fit and effectively prepared for their procedure, liaising with the multi-disciplinary team.

Procedure Support: Provide direct patient care and expert clinical assistance to endoscopists during procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Leadership and Management: Take charge of the endoscopy unit in the absence of a more senior nurse, coordinate shifts, supervise junior staff (Band 5 nurses, healthcare assistants, students), and ensure high standards of care are maintained.

Qualifications / Training


Essential criteria

* Registered Nursing qualification on the NMC register
* Nursing degree qualification/ Apprenticeship or equivalent
* GCSE Grade A-C in Math’s & English or skills level 2 math’s & English or equivalent
* Commitment to lifelong learning.
* Ability to produce a personal professional portfolio.
* Mentorship/preceptorship training
* IT skills.


Desirable criteria

* Recognised management training/course


Previous Experience


Essential criteria

* Extensive post registration experience
* Manage day to day running of the unit/ward
* Evidence of developing one’s own specialist, clinical
* Fully compliant with all Endoscopy JETS competencies
* Evidence of training and mentoring staff and educating patients
* Responsibility for management and co-ordination of staff appraisals.
* Budget management stock control awareness.
* Utilisation of teaching skills
* Experience of prioritizing
* Evidence of excellent communication skills
* Understanding of research/Audit and experience of developing clinical practice.
* Ability to direct and work within a team.
* Sound organisational skills.
* Time management.
* Technically minded
* Delegation and overseeing designated services- PEG and Preassessment.

* Computer literacy

* Management of staff sickness.

Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Good knowledge of Gastroenterological conditions and procedures
* Ability to identify risks and knowledge of risk assessments and the importance of Health and safety in Endoscopy.
* Awareness of Health care associated infections within the setting of Endoscopy.
* Knowledge of JAG/JETS/GRS
* Ability to write/review protocols/procedures
* Experience in dealing with complaints and incident reporting.
* Able to facilitate change.
* Working knowledge of managing Decontamination processes.
* Knowledge of standard setting and Audit.


Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of National Bowel cancer screening program
* Interview or recruitment experience.
