Job Description FM Estimator Permanent Full Time Glasgow £50,700 inc car allowance Plus Excellent Package We are working with a growing and highly reputable facilities management contractor who are a genuinely fantastic company to work for, look after their staff well and have established and stable contracts nationwide. As an FM Service Contracts & Small Works Estimator, you will provide accurate cost estimates for our FM Service contracts and Small Works offerings across various business units. Your role will be crucial in maintaining and expanding work with established clients and securing new workstreams in line with our growth strategies. These include Distribution Centres, High Street Outlets, Historic Buildings, Further Education and Local Authorities. You will manage a workload covering Hard Services, including Fabric, Mechanical & Electrical services, Refrigeration, and Fire & Security. You will be part of our established Commercial Team, working alongside Service Surveyors, Commercial Staff, and receiving operational and bid management pre-tender support. The Role – Key Responsibilities Cost Estimation & Financial Management: Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing models for service-based contracts. Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and value engineering exercises to ensure cost-effectiveness. Develop and maintain cost databases for labour, materials, and subcontracted services. Present proposals in adjudication meetings. Tendering & Procurement: Assist in the preparation and submission of tender documentation, ensuring compliance with client requirements. Work with procurement teams to obtain supplier and subcontractor quotes to inform cost estimates. Contract Administration & Risk Management: Provide commercial input into tender contract negotiations, ensuring risks and financial implications are clearly understood. Monitor contract cost performance, identifying variances and potential financial risks. Ensure contracts comply with industry regulations, company policies, and client requirements. Work closely with legal teams to review contract terms and mitigate financial exposure. Team Leadership Support and develop the Estimating & Extra to Contract Team, providing guidance to manage commercial aspects of their workloads Mentor staff to assist in their development Review ways of working to assist in their day to day workload The Person: Essential: Proven experience in cost estimating, financial management, or commercial roles within service-based industries. Strong knowledge of service contracts, procurement processes, and cost control measures. Proficiency in cost estimation software, Microsoft Excel, and financial modelling. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data. Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Understanding of contract law, risk management, and compliance within service contracts. Desirable: Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field. Experience in public sector procurement (e.g., NEC, JCT, or PFI contracts). Familiarity with benchmarking tools, cost databases, and estimating software.
