The Medical Imaging Department has a number of new vacancies for Band 3 Medical Imaging Assistants at both Leighton Hospital, Crewe and Victoria Infirmary, Northwich in the new CT department. We are looking for hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to join our dynamic and welcoming team.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working alongside not only Radiologists and Radiographers, but a wide range of healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will undertake a range of duties, including:

Patient centred working: assist patients when in the imaging department and prepare them for imaging.

1. To adhere to Departmental and Trust policies and ensure others do so.
2. To assist Radiologists during Imaging procedures.
3. To assist Radiographers during Imaging procedures.
4. To communicate effectively with patients and colleagues in order to facilitate effective care and treatment.
5. To support patients prior, during and after procedures.
6. To comply with Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C) policies and procedures as appropriate to their role and responsibilities in their individual work setting. Staff are required to be personally accountable for their actions and be responsible for their own compliance in relation to IP&C polices protocols or advice.
7. To perform duties in a caring and professional manner.
8. To promote communication by attending and participating in departmental meetings.
9. To manage workloads efficiently and effectively.
10. To participate in KSF appraisal.
11. To perform to consistently high quality standards.
12. Prepare the clinical environment for safe practice by ensuring that the appropriate level of cleanliness is maintained, relevant materials and any equipment needed for carrying out agreed clinical procedures are available and ready for use, including clearing away and restoring equipment and environment afterwards.
13. Attend all Mandatory training as directed by the Trust.
14. Report incidents where procedures fail or do not have the intended effect.
15. Maintain up to date skills and knowledge, and maintain an awareness of patient led service issues.
16. Maintain a personal portfolio.
17. Adhere to Trust policy, procedures and guidelines.
18. Adhere to Trust standards of behaviour and expected performance.
19. To participate in KSF appraisal.
20. To participate in the departmental shift system in order to provide and maintain a quality service.
21. To perform to consistently high quality standards.
22. Contribute to the development of teams, individuals and self to enhance performance.
23. Create, maintain and enhance working relationships with wards, clinicians and staff.
24. To work towards obtaining the necessary skills to meet the requirements of the competency framework.
25. To perform miscellaneous duties as and when requested by the Service Manager.
* Communication skills: with patients, relatives, porters and other health care professionals.
* Moving and Handling; in house training will be provided.
* IT skills: Recording of information on the Radiology information system.
* Cannulation: Previous experience is desirable but in-house training will be supported.

A Level 3 Award in Employment and Personal Learning skills in Health or NVQ 3 in Hospital Health Care are the preferred qualifications for this role. Candidates working towards one of these or with a suitable alternative qualification will be considered.

Hours are 37.5hr per week to include shift and weekend work. The hours will be worked over a 13hr day. Part-time applicants are welcome to apply but will be expected to participate fully in evening and weekend duties.


Key Messages

The salary threshold for sponsorship is £25,000 for Health and Care Visas and £41,700 (with limited exceptions) for Skilled Worker visas. Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the entry point (bottom) of the pay band.

Appointments are subject to a 6-month probationary period. LED Doctors are subject to a 3-month probationary period.
