Job Purpose
As a Welding Trainer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and assessment of high-quality, employer-responsive training programmes, including Skills Bootcamps and Bespoke Employer-Led Provision (BELP). You will support adult learners through personalised, industry-aligned learning pathways that reflect both current sector demands and individual learner aspirations.
Working closely with employers and industry partners, you will help shape and deliver flexible, skills-focused provision that addresses real workforce development needs in welding and fabrication. Your role will involve not only teaching technical welding skills but also embedding essential employability, health and safety, and professional behaviours.
A key part of your role will be to motivate, mentor, and inspire learners, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve meaningful outcomes—whether that’s progression into employment, upskilling in their current role, or moving on to further training.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, local employers, and relevant agencies to support learner recruitment and promote the value of employer-led training.
* Provide high-quality information, advice, and guidance (IAG) to both learners and employers, ensuring clarity around programme expectations and supporting timely achievement of agreed learning aims and SMART objectives.
* Deliver and assess knowledge, skills, and behaviours across a range of vocational areas, including the delivery and assessment of Functional Skills where required, ensuring alignment with programme outcomes and industry standards.
* Manage a defined caseload of learners enrolled on BELP and Skills Bootcamp programmes, supporting them to achieve their qualifications and progress into sustained employment or further training.
* Contribute to business development by identifying new employer partnerships and expanding opportunities with existing stakeholders to grow participation in employer-led provision.
* Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver structured schemes of work and lesson plans that are responsive to learner needs and employer priorities, ensuring high-quality, engaging, and inclusive delivery.
* Continuously evaluate learner progress and adapt delivery approaches through regular reviews, contributing to best practice groups and quality improvement initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with all contractual and funding requirements, with a focus on learner recruitment, retention, and achievement.
* Create a safe, inclusive, and purposeful learning environment where learners feel supported, respected, and motivated to succeed.
* Contribute to the achievement of organisational targets and strategic objectives, supporting the wider mission of the College Group.
* Conduct health and safety risk assessments of employer premises to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards prior to confirming work-based learning placements.
* Monitor and review learner progress in the workplace in consultation with employers, ensuring that learning outcomes are met and that learners are supported to achieve their goals.
* Support the performance management of the programme by tracking key performance indicators such as learner numbers, attendance, and achievement rates.
* Engage in continuous improvement through participation in programme reviews, self-assessment processes, staff meetings, and activities aligned with the Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
