We are looking for talented, motivated RF/Microwave Engineers at every level to join our growing hardware engineering teams within Leonardo, based in any of our 8 offices. As an RF Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development, manufacture, and testing of cutting-edge radio frequency systems within a range of product lines. With a focus on ensuring optimal performance and functionality, you will contribute to the advancement of our defence technology.
What You’ll Do As RF Engineer
This is an exciting opportunity for RF/Microwave Engineers to bring their skillsets and knowledge into our working environment. You will:
* Have an understanding of RF circuit design, microwave techniques, and electromagnetic theory. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
* Work within, or lead, applied research work-packages and feasibility studies, document findings, and provide RF architectural recommendations for phased array antenna concepts for next-generation radar systems.
* Collaborate closely with the Antenna Design Authority, Receiver Design Authority, and Lead Hardware Specialists, providing RF hardware support to digital hardware, systems, software, firmware engineering, product support, and test engineering teams.
* Take ownership of RF PCB assemblies, ensuring high-quality, robust designs, proper documentation, configuration management, and conducting design reviews.
What We Need From You
* Qualifications: First or second degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (preferred) or related sciences such as Physics.
* Proven experience in RF circuit design and analysis, with a strong understanding of microwave techniques and electromagnetic theory.
* Proficiency in RF analysis/simulation software tools like ADS, AWR, CST.
* Familiarity with RF measurement equipment such as VNA, signal generators, spectrum analyzers.
* Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Desirable Skills
* Experience in antenna or receiver development.
* Knowledge of synthesizers, downconverters, high-speed data converters, non-linear component modeling, and transmit/receive modules.
* Research expertise for technical study investigations.
Security Clearance
Applicants must be eligible for UK security clearance, typically at the Security Check (SC) level, requiring a minimum of 5 years of UK permanent residency. More information can be found at UK Government Security Clearance Levels.
