Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that services are efficiently and effectively run within the Theatre Division. This will be achieved through excellent human resource, financial and performance management, and leadership of change management to achieve improvement in process and patient outcomes.

The post holder will work primarily with the divisions, the theatre management and information teams. The primary purpose of the role is to lead on our Theatre Productivity and Efficiency Programme and provide high quality data analysis and reports to support the initiative. The post holder will need to have excellent people skills, as this role requires a high degree of critical review, engagement and challenge to exceptionally busy clinical, operational and corporate colleagues.

The post holder will be responsible for meeting both the Theatre Division objectives and the strategic corporate objectives of the organisation and will provide management support to staff within their areas of management. The role will also focus on the development and implementation of projects which will in turn drive service and policy development and change, working within tight time scales when required.

Main duties of the job

·In liaison and with the support of the Divisional Management Team, initiate and drive forward key high impact projects to support the Theatre Productivity and Efficiency Programme in the context of delivery the UHSussex overall strategic vision.

·Support surgical team in maximising theatre usage through improved processes and identifying efficiencies, in line with local and nation benchmarks.

·Support the Theatres and Anaesthetics Divisional Team in developing and planning the delivery of initiatives that improve clinical quality and effectiveness. This will include the creation of monthly performance updates of progress against agreed goals and milestones for identified initiatives.

·For the appropriate projects, ensure the following mechanisms are in place; including project registers, plans, issue logs, risks, delivery performance tracking, remedial acting tracking, etc.

·In association with the Theatres and Anaesthetics Divisional Team the post holder will provide reports, analyses and presentations as appropriate. They will also conduct analysis to quantify the potential in improvement initiatives in collaboration with the Theatres and Anaesthetics Divisional Management Team.

·Provide coaching, guidance and challenge to clinical teams within the divisions in implementation and sustainability of change.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
