Main duties of the job
We are looking for a salaried GP to join our practice, as a member of our acute care team. This role allows for a varied workload, without the administration that comes with a patient list.
The benefits:

* Admin time within working day
Working hours
Up to 4‑6 sessions per week, flexibly scheduled over 2 or 3 days.
Job responsibilities
* Managing a mix of telephone and face‑to‑face consultations.
* No patient list (unless wanted); only own generated admin.
* Delivering mainly acute primary care consultations tailored to patient needs, with some follow‑ups.
* Proactively supporting patients with complex or long‑term conditions to help them stay well.
* Offering expert advice and guidance to support the wider MDT.
* Upholding high standards of evidence‑based, patient‑focused care.
* Workload does not exceed BMA recommended number of consultations (including GP‑to‑book only slots for your own follow‑up).
* 15‑minute appointments with catch‑up slots.
* Managing own admin.
* Must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
Qualifications
* GMC registered and listed on the GP Specialty Register
* Included on the Performers List
Experience
* Experienced in primary or urgent care, or newly qualified and eager to grow.
* Experience of working in a dispensing practice (desired).
Skills
* Skilled communicator with the ability to engage at all levels.
* Organised and committed to providing high‑quality care.
* Confident with IT and clinical systems and quick to learn.
* Knowledge of Emis Web, Ardens and Accurx (this can be taught if unfamiliar).
* Qualifications in contraception including coil and implant fitting and removal (desirable).
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. From 6 April 2017, skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
About us
Shawbury Medical Practice is a small rural fully dispensing general practice just north of Shrewsbury. We are a purpose‑built, modern practice that is well‑maintained and community‑driven. Our community team conducts the majority of home visits. We have a strong administration team that minimises time‑consuming paperwork, and we use Emis Web with Ardens and Accurx software. We have a patient list of approximately 4,500 in a small village with a rural population, and we are committed to reducing GP workload.
