Long-Term Shared Lives Carer

Shared Lives Powys are seeking individuals or households who are willing to share their home and everyday life with an adult (aged 18+) who wants support to live independently within their local community.
Shared Lives is an alternative to supported living or residential care. It offers adults the opportunity to live as part of an ordinary household, build meaningful relationships, and receive support in the community.
The Role
As a Long-Term Shared Lives Carer, you will:
• Provide accommodation and day-to-day support in your own home
• Share everyday household and community life
• Support independence, skills development, and social inclusion
Arrangements are long-term and planned, with careful matching at the heart of Shared
Lives.
Shared Lives Carers are self-employed.

Short Breaks / Respite Shared Lives Carer

Shared Lives Powys are seeking individuals or households who are willing to share their home for short periods with an adult (aged 18+) who requires short break or respite support to live independently within their local community.
Shared Lives is an alternative to supported living or residential care. Short Breaks Shared Lives arrangements provide planned, time-limited stays and offer adults the opportunity to experience life in an ordinary household, build relationships, and remain connected to their
community.

The Role
As a Short Breaks / Respite Shared Lives Carer, you will:
• Provide short-term accommodation and day-to-day support in your own home
• Share everyday household and community life during planned stays
• Support independence, skills development, and social inclusion
Arrangements are planned and time-limited, with careful matching at the heart of Shared
Lives.
Shared Lives Carers are self-employed.

Emergency Shared Lives Carer
Shared Lives Powys
Shared Lives Powys are seeking individuals or households who are able to provide short-notice accommodation and support for adults (aged 18+).
Emergency Shared Lives arrangements support adults during times of crisis, transition, hospital discharge, or placement breakdown. These arrangements are short-term and aim to provide stability and reassurance while longer-term plans are explored.
Shared Lives supports adults only and is not fostering.
The Role
As an Emergency Shared Lives Carer, you will:
• Provide short-term accommodation at short notice
• Offer day-to-day support and reassurance during periods of change
• Share everyday household and community life
• Support adults while working alongside Shared Lives Powys and other professionals
Arrangements are temporary and carefully managed, with matching remaining central
wherever possible.
Shared Lives Carers are self-employed.

Sessional Support Shared Lives Carer
Shared Lives Powys
Shared Lives Powys are seeking individuals who can provide sessional support during the
day to adults (aged 18+) within their local community with meaningful activities and access
to Shared Lives carers own home.
Shared Lives sessional support enables adults to build independence, confidence, and skills
while maintaining strong connections to their community. This role does not involve overnight
accommodation.
The Role
As a Sessional Shared Lives Carer, you will:
• Provide support for a few hours at a time
• Support individuals to access their community and everyday activities including
access to visit the Shared lives carers home
• Encourage independence, confidence, and skill development
• Build positive and meaningful relationships
Support is flexible and tailored to the individual’s interests and personal outcomes.
