About Us
We are a friendly, forward‑thinking GP Partnership in South Leicestershire seeking confident and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. We hold two GMS contracts over three sites and are a single partnership PCN. The practice has a large multidisciplinary team and encourages learning and development for all staff.
Job Description
Core Activities
* Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, and additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
* Provide other personal medical services to meet identified patient needs.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
* Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice; disease management protocols, counselling and health education.
* Work within current ICB policy for prescribing.
* Maximise the effective use of current clinical computer systems; record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to an agreed standard.
* Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible).
* Take part in areas including health research, clinical auditing and data collection.
* Contribute to QOF requirements and record data appropriately.
* Screen patients for health education.
* Attend team meetings and other clinical meetings as necessary.
* Undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP in primary care as set by the Royal College of General Practitioners, General Medical Council, and other relevant organisations.
Service Development
* Be involved in developing primary care services to meet the needs of the practice population.
* Work in close collaboration with the practice team to ensure that access targets are reached.
* Ensure immunisation and health inequalities targets defined within the PMS contract are met.
* Support health development and ensure health promotion work is undertaken to enable the practice population to make informed choices.
* Represent the practice at appropriate meetings, e.g. Practice Based Commissioning Groups.
Managerial
* Apply all relevant organisation policies and procedures (prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, infection control) to own work.
* Commit to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based practice.
* Contribute to evaluated audit and clinical standards setting within the organisation.
* Develop computer‑based records and support summarising of patient records and read‑coding patient data.
Quality
* Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk.
* Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions.
* Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and suggesting ways to improve and enhance service delivery.
* Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patient needs.

* Prescribe safe and effective medicines in accordance with NICE guidance, BNF, Controlled Drugs legislation, and organisational protocols.
* Ensure prescribing budgets and incentive schemes are adhered to.
* Support proper referral processes and complaint handling procedures.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration (MBChB or equivalent)
* UK permit or right to work in the United Kingdom
* GP vocational or additional experience in general practice
* Commitment to professional development
* Knowledge of the NHS
* Evidence‑based practice and clinical effectiveness
* Clinical governance and quality issues
* Good written and verbal communication, including concise medical notes
* Experience with Microsoft Office applications

Desirable Qualifications
* MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP

* Interest in research and additional clinical skills
* Experience with GP clinical systems
* Car drive/clean licence
* Accreditation for Implanon and coil fittings and other sexual health promotion
* Advocacy for clinical standards
