About the role:
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Farnham STW.
The successful candidate will work in a multi-discipline team, responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to Thames Water by performing operational activities, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting to meet service standards. It includes planned and preventative maintenance to support plant operations.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs efficiently to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if needed.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, measurement devices, PLCs, drives, and chemical handling equipment, including statutory checks.
* Ensure safety and compliance with health and safety procedures.
* Be open to training on water treatment processes.
Base Location:
Farnham STW – Monkton Lane, GU9 9ND.
Working Pattern:
38 hours, Monday-Friday, 7:30-15:36, with standby rota payments and overtime opportunities which can increase earnings.
Compensation:
£8,000-£10,000 per annum post-training, PPE, tools, fuel card, and provisional company van.
What you should bring to the role
* Time-served apprentice or significant experience in electrical systems, with a background in a multi-skilled capacity.
* Qualifications such as ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering, with mechanical NVQ2/3 and 18th Edition.
* Mechanical upskilling for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing faults, and repairing plant equipment safely.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues.
* Valid driving license.
