Training Programme Director - Paediatric Cardiology (Medicine)
An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director. The post will be available on the basis of a secondment arrangement to NHS England, remunerated 0.25 PA / 1 hour per week (job share will be considered). All work will be incorporated into the Consultant Job Plan.
Main duties of the job
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including the Head of School, clinical faculty, other heads of schools, training programme directors, professional and regulatory bodies, and local medical and dental schools.
* Ensure high standards of education and training as defined by the General Medical Council and other national bodies, and maintain compliance with the NHSE Quality Framework and education quality improvement initiatives.
* Commit to national vision, policies and processes for effective educational quality management.
* Ensure objectives are met within budget, achieving savings contributions where required and meeting Code of Practice guidelines.
* Provide accurate guidance to trainees on OOP, IDT, LTFT, and acting-up applications.
* Manage postgraduate programmes, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, career support, less‑than‑full‑time training, inter‑deanery transfer and academic training.
* Attend school meetings and other relevant meetings within the structure.
* Advising and supporting educational and workforce development, including strategic workforce development and commissioning.
* Develop educational programmes to support achievement of curriculum competencies.
* Ensure compliance with procurement requirements and overall finance responsibilities.
Qualifications
* Primary medical qualification or registration on the Specialist Register.
* Membership or fellowship of a college, faculty, professional association or regulatory body.
Experience & Knowledge
* Experience working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context.
* Experience of clinical and educational leadership.
* Demonstrable track record of delivery in both service provision and education.
Skills
* Leadership and problem‑solving abilities.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills.
* Organisation and time‑management skills.
