Employee Relations Leader – Workforce Change & Restructuring (Global Scope)

An opportunity has arisen with a global financial services institution seeking a strategic and execution-focused Employee Relations professional to lead high-impact Workforce Change and Restructuring projects. This position sits at the heart of HR transformation and business evolution, offering exposure to complex, cross-border programmes with high visibility across senior leadership.
The Role
As the Employee Relations Manager, you will take full accountability for the HR workstream of strategic change programmes spanning restructuring, TUPE transfers, senior exits, outsourcing/insourcing, and M&A activity. You will operate at pace in a matrixed environment, collaborating with global HR stakeholders, legal advisors, unions, and senior leadership to deliver outcomes that are compliant, commercially aligned, and human-centric.
You will serve as a trusted advisor on people impact assessments, consultation strategy and governance, ensuring adherence to both internal standards and external regulatory requirements across diverse jurisdictions. You will also influence internal controls, risk mitigation, and change management practices throughout the lifecycle of complex people transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Own end-to-end HR delivery for major workforce change projects (UK and global scope).
* Lead consultation strategies with trade unions and employee forums, developing material and co-facilitating sessions.
* Partner with HR Operations, Public Policy, Legal, and Career Transition Services to coordinate smooth execution.
* Champion best-in-class stakeholder engagement, risk management, and communications planning.
* Ensure rigorous governance, compliance, and reporting standards throughout.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of organisational policy and change methodology.
We are looking for a confident and resilient HR/ER professional with significant experience in managing sensitive and strategic change programmes in complex, regulated environments – ideally with experience in investment banking or global financial services.
Skills:
* Deep Employee Relations expertise, ideally within a unionised and/or regulated environment.
* Proven success in leading large-scale workforce transformation and cross-border change.
* Strong project and stakeholder management skills with comfort operating at senior levels.
* Experience delivering workforce changes in both UK and international markets.
* High proficiency with HR risk, governance, and regulatory compliance.
