Job Title: Programme Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and purpose-driven Programme Manager to lead and coordinate our client's high-profile Ethics & Integrity programme within one of their scientifc publishing areas. This role is pivotal in ensuring cohesive, strategic delivery of initiatives that uphold the client's reputation, support researchers, and strengthen trust in scholarly publishing.
The successful candidate will act as the outcome owner, driving initiatives that embed ethics and integrity throughout our publishing processes. You’ll
ensure that projects are aligned with the client's objectives, stakeholders are fully engaged, and measurable progress is achieved across all areas of the
programme.
Must Have's
1. Recent experience within the Publishing Industry
2. Experience leading programmes or projects that are have a heavy focus on ethics and integrity
Strategic Programme Leadership
3. Lead the Ethics & Integrity programme end-to-end, from design and planning through to delivery and benefits realization.
4. Translate the client's publishing ethics strategy into a coordinated programme of initiatives with clear milestones and success measures.
5. Build and maintain a cohesive delivery roadmap that integrates policy, operations, technology, and community engagement.
Stakeholder Engagement
6. Partner with publishing leadership, editorial teams, researchers, and external stakeholders to define programme objectives and KPIs.
7. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, ensuring transparency, alignment, and consistent communication.
8. Facilitate clarity and decision-making to keep the programme on track and stakeholders engaged.
Delivery Excellence
9. Oversee multiple workstreams (, policy development, technology solutions, editorial practices, researcher engagement) to deliver integrated outcomes.
10. Champion agile delivery practices and ensure effective governance, risk management, and reporting.
11. Ensure effective programme governance by maintaining transparent status reporting, proactively managing risks and dependencies, and escalating critical
12. issues to enable informed decision-making and accountability.
13. Manage budgets, resources, and timelines with a focus on achieving measurable impact rather than activity alone.
14. Lead change management and communication efforts to ensure successful adoption of new policies, processes, and technologies across the organisation.
Continuous Improvement
15. Promote best practices in ethics programme management, change leadership, and publishing integrity.
16. Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning.
17. Mentor and support colleagues to build capability in ethics and programme management.
About You
18. Proven experience managing large-scale programmes or portfolios in publishing, research, or adjacent sectors, with a track record of influencing at senior leadership levels.
19. Deep understanding of ethics, integrity, and compliance issues in academic publishing or research.
20. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across diverse groups.
21. Excellent strategic, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.
22. Proven ability to lead change and deliver outcomes in complex, matrixed organisations.
23. Background in agile or hybrid delivery methodologies, with experience in governance and reporting.
24. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms is an advantage.
