Ward Clerk - SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care)

We now have vacancies for part-time Ward Clerks to work on the SDEC Unit (Same Day Emergency Care) at Fairfield General Hospital in Bury.
The post holders will provide a wide range of administrative and clerical duties to the ward/ unit staff. They will be responsible for the safekeeping and availability of all clinical records relating to patients and the smooth running of the ward/department office. They will also provide general assistance to the ward/ unit staff. Must have good communication and IT skills and be able to work under pressure.
The post holders will work as members of a team based in the Emergency Department and will be responsible for providing friendly, confidential, speedy, courteous and effective reception and registering service for patients, relatives and visitors attending the department.
Main duties of the job
This will involve registering and discharging patients on the Emergency Department IT system, GP OOH system, booking follow up appointments for various out-patient clinics and recording admission details on Patient Centre. In addition staff will deal with a range of face to face and telephone enquiries from nursing and medical staff, patients, relatives, GPs and external agencies providing general advice and information. A comprehensive range of administrative and clerical duties are undertaken.

* Previous office experience.
* Experience of dealing with the public.
