The Opportunity
EDF is at the forefront of the UK's transition to a low-carbon future. As an Emergency Planning Officer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our sites are always ready to respond to emergencies and significant events. Your work will help maintain business continuity and safeguard our operations.
You’ll develop and implement emergency preparedness standards across our fleet, drawing on legislation, policy, and real-world learning. This role offers flexibility in location with regular travel across our sites, working closely with teams to embed best practices and deliver meaningful improvements. Please note, this is a 2-year fixed-term contract.
Pay, Benefits & Culture

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be at the heart of our emergency planning efforts, ensuring sites are prepared to respond effectively to incidents. Your responsibilities include coordinating emergency response readiness, working with government agencies, leading development and deployment of standards, managing critical systems, budgets, and IT projects. You’ll collaborate with site teams to embed best practices and maintain high standards of readiness.
Who You Are
You’ll have a relevant HNC or equivalent experience in emergency preparedness, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements such as Licence Condition 11 and REPPIR. You should have experience managing budgets, emergency schemes, and facilities. The ability to lead improvement initiatives, communicate effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential. To be appointed, you must meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC), which typically requires UK residency over the last 3 years.
