Buyer / Procurement Specialist Manufacturing Birmingham

Are you an experienced Buyer or Procurement Specialist with a strong background in manufacturing?
Do you have a minimum of 3 years procurement experience and CIPS Level 5 (or above)?

About the Role
As a Manufacturing Buyer / Procurement Specialist, you will play a key role in sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring supply chain reliability across both UK and international markets. This is a critical, fast-paced role where accuracy, negotiation skills, and a strategic mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Source materials, components, and services from UK and overseas suppliers.
Manage supplier performance, ensuring OTIF targets are consistently achieved.
Evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing, and secure favourable commercial terms.
Maintain accurate ERP data and collaborate with internal teams to keep systems up to date.
Monitor MOQs, lead times, and stock levels to ensure production demands are met.
Prepare RFQs, manage competitive tenders, and support contract negotiations.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards across all procurement activities.
Report on supplier KPIs, cost performance, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Finance to align purchasing with business needs.
What Youll Bring
3+ years experience in procurement or buying, ideally within manufacturing or engineering.
CIPS Level 5 (minimum) or working towards completion.
Strong understanding of ERP systems and data-driven purchasing processes.
Experience managing UK and international supply chains.
Knowledge of MOQs, OTIF performance, and supplier management best practices.
Proven ability to work within ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 frameworks.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail.
