Job Description Job Title: Facilities Cover Assistant Salary: Hourly rate to be agreed (dependent on experience) Hours / weeks: Casual arrangement as agreed Contract type: Casual Reports to: School Business Manager / Estate Manager Job purpose To support keeping the school safe, secure and clean for pupils, staff and visitors To contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the Academy. Main responsibilities Hire of Facilities Key holding responsibility to include unlocking and locking the facilities Setting and unsetting the intruder alarm systems at start and end of opening hours Be the main point of contact between the hirers and the School during the hire periods Welcome all hirers / visitors in a professional and confident manner Ensure that any questions or concerns are addressed in a professional manner Ensure that access is only given to hirers on the school’s ‘hirers list’ for paid approved times Check all areas before hirers are given access to ensure they are to the required standard Check all areas handed over after a hire session to ensure that areas are given back in the same condition Ensure that all areas not being hired are kept locked During the hire shift perform tasks as agreed with the School; these would include cleaning, tidying up, meeting room set-ups, porterage and covering reception Health, Safety and Security Walk the floor at the start and end of the hire period to ensure that all areas are safe for use Take corrective action where necessary to ensure compliance with Health & Safety Site maintenance Keep all areas walked tidy and clear of litter Cleaning Clean areas as directed.This would include graffiti removal, cleaning and sweeping floors, cleaning door mats,emptying waste bins,keeping areas free from leaves and debris Training Participate in training, development activities and programmes as appropriate. Attend necessary INSET sessions, meetings and training as required. Keep up to date with relevant legislation Additional duties Undertake other duties as directed by the Headteacher and School Business Manager which may be necessary to keep pupils, staff and visitors safe and secure.
