Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence‑led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. You will provide face to face training on MEMEX, support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches, and supervise intelligence logs to ensure high standards of quality in submissions.
You will also be responsible for creating entities from Memex submissions, providing regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance, and ensuring high standards of quality of intelligence submissions. Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions. Responsibilities
* Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex.
* Improve the quality of intelligence submissions and ensure high standards of accuracy.
* Provide face‑to‑face training on the Intelligence system (MEMEX).
* Support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
* Supervise intelligence logs to maintain submission quality.
* Create entities from Memex submissions.
* Provide regular performance reports and feedback for continuous improvement.
* Deliver incident response support as required.
Experience/Skills Required
* Good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
* Ability to advocate an intelligence‑led approach and embed it across teams.
* Excellent influencing skills; ensure Memex use is standard and safety checks are mandatory.
* Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships.
* Ability to design and deliver engaging, inclusive training.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to give constructive feedback on intelligence submission performance.
* Strong self‑management and organisational skills.
* Good teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.
