Pharmacy Dispenser – Prestwich Superstore
Join to apply for the Pharmacy Dispenser role at Tesco. Our Pharmacy Dispenser rate of pay starts from £12.87 an hour; this increases to £14.08 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with a minimum of 12 hours for those wishing to work fewer hours. Availability windows:
* Sun 10:00 – 16:00
* Mon 15:00 – 20:00
* Tue 08:00 – 16:00
* Wed 13:00 – 20:00
We will schedule your contracted hours within these times and give you three weeks’ notice of your shifts. We support flexibility, so if the times you are available to work match closely but not exactly, we’d still love to hear from you.
About the role
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. You will be working alongside experienced pharmacists and managers, receiving support in a fast‑paced environment where you’ll dispense medicines, provide vaccinations, review customers’ use of medicines, and check blood pressure or blood‑glucose levels.
You will be responsible for:
* Supporting the operation of one of our modern pharmacies.
* Applying technical skills and strong customer focus to accurately dispense medication.
* Dispensing prescription medicines with detail and accuracy.
* Conversation with customers, offering information in a confident, friendly and professional manner.
* Providing appropriate information about common ailments, symptoms and products.
* Understanding customers’ needs, explaining product benefits and selling suitable products.
* Advising customers on the range of pharmacy services available.
* Supporting dispensing processes according to Standard Operating Procedures.
* Assessing the legal appropriateness of dispensed prescriptions.
* Dealing with clinical and legal queries from healthcare practitioners within area of competence.
* Responding to customer queries about prescription medicines and informing the pharmacist of complaints.
* Ensuring all dispensary routines, SOPs, and cleaning standards are followed.
* Keeping promotional activities and company initiatives alive within the team.
* Completing corporate and departmental training.
* Keeping up to date with legal and professional developments in pharmacy.
You will need
* Qualifications gained from working in a pharmacy environment.
* A desire to train and develop within the pharmacy field.
