Overview
Purpose of the role: A Product Owner aims to maximize the value of the product by defining a clear product vision, managing authoring, refining and prioritising the Product Backlog, and balancing trade-offs across desirability, viability and feasibility. The Product Owner acts as the primary liaison between stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure the product meets user needs and delivers value. They are responsible for developing a roadmap and driving execution of their product area, applying continuous improvement principles.
Accountabilities
* Ensure Product Alignment with Business Goals: Ensure the product and its features are aligned with broader objectives, driving value and contributing to the organization’s strategy. Utilise market research, analyze customer feedback and monitor industry trends to identify new products, features or enhancements.
* Communicate Product Vision to Delivery Teams: Clearly articulate the product vision and goals to delivery teams, ensuring they understand, align and are inspired to deliver value.
* Create and Refine User Stories: Write clear, concise user stories with detailed acceptance criteria, refining them to ensure the development team has the information needed to implement features.
* Agile Events: Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives to keep the team aligned on the product backlog.
* Managing the Product Backlog: Create, maintain and prioritise the backlog, delivering highest value features first based on business needs, customer requirements and organisational impacts.
* Voice of the Customer: Gather feedback from customers and end-users to understand pain points and ensure the product improves user experience.
* Acceptance Criteria Definition and Management: Review and accept or reject work from the development team during sprints, ensuring features meet agreed acceptance criteria and deliver business value.
* Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with customers, business leaders and marketing teams to gather requirements and ensure the product vision aligns with business objectives.
* Monitor Product Performance and Iterate: Assess product performance using KPIs and feedback, adjusting the backlog and roadmap to meet evolving needs.
* Run and Readiness Activities: Manage ongoing readiness and operational activities of live products, including monitoring, governance and approvals.
* Risk and Control: Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies and escalate as necessary, ensuring alignment between product management and control functions.
