National Grid is hiring a Lead Networks Engineer on a permanent basis. This role is based in our Warwick office, and we offer a hybrid working model.
Job Purpose
Our vision is to be recognized as a world-leading Information Technology and Digital function in the energy sector and a trusted partner across National Grid businesses. This role will ensure that IT Infrastructure and Operations maintain internal technical knowledge, engineering, and operational integrity across the service portfolio and the various suppliers of IT services to National Grid. The role also involves ensuring alignment and assurance across the designs underpinning the service offerings with the portfolio.
What you'll do
1. Ownership for establishing the governance model to ensure DDI and F5 service reliability and functional requirements are met, with residual risks recorded and accepted.
2. Responsible for lifecycle management of Infoblox DDI and F5 platforms, ensuring sufficient system capacity, up-to-date OS and application software, security, and latest functionalities.
3. Configure and manage F5 devices.
4. Design and implement high-availability load balancing solutions for applications and services.
5. Monitor traffic flows, performance metrics, and device health.
6. Allocate IP addresses and DNS names for operational environments, collaborating with engineering and delivery teams on requirements.
7. Possess in-depth knowledge and experience with Infoblox or similar DDI platforms, managing their lifecycle.
8. Develop IP address schemes for large organizations and data centers, and socialize these schemes across teams and suppliers.
9. Support delivery of automated DDI services to cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure.
10. Automate Infoblox and F5 services with ServiceNow for service requests.
11. Create and deliver reports for operations and project teams.
12. Innovate and develop ideas, including designing data collection tools for qualitative and quantitative data.
13. Identify key business drivers and support areas needing improvement within strategic planning.
About you
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
2. Over 3 years of experience in a similar role.
3. Effective collaboration with colleagues and suppliers across time zones.
4. Strong F5 design, configuration, and management experience; accreditation is desirable.
5. Experience designing and implementing DDI infrastructure solutions.
6. Infoblox Core DDI accreditation or equivalent is desirable.
7. Knowledge of DDI management and reporting tools.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £63,000 - £76,000, dependent on capability. Additionally, you will receive:
