Central Employment is currently supporting a Darlington based group of companies with the recruitment of a Senior Payroll Officer. This is a key role within a small Payroll team and will involve managing multiple end-to-end payrolls.

Role Responsibilities
* Manage all aspects of payroll, including processing starters and leavers, timesheet analysis, holiday pay calculations, statutory sick/maternity pay (SSP/SMP), HMRC submissions, and Payroll Year End obligations.
* Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, including overtime, shift allowances, statutory payments, and National Minimum Wage.
* Administer the pension scheme in line with Auto Enrolment and pension legislation.
* Respond to payroll queries relating to tax, NI, pension, and Auto Enrolment.
* Set up new payrolls and extract/prepare information from time recording systems.
* Design reports and upload information into payroll systems.
* Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve issues or errors.
* Prepare and distribute payroll reports as required.
* Keep up to date with changes in payroll regulations and best practices.
Person Specification
* Strong technical payroll experience, including RTI, SSP, SMP, and Auto Enrolment.
* Proven experience managing a medium/large-sized payroll.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in weekly and monthly payroll processes.
* Proficient in iTrent (desirable).
* CIPP/CIPD qualification (desirable).
* Fully competent in PAYE, NIC, SSP, SMP, and Auto Enrolment.
* Organised, methodical, and able to work to strict deadlines while identifying opportunities for process improvements.
