Job Description:
Overview:
The Duty and Assessment team is the frontline, single point of contact for safeguarding concerns related to young people in the catchment area. Cases are initially reported to MASH and then forwarded to DAAT. The team comprises 6 units, each with 8-10 staff, including a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, Social Workers, Newly Qualified Social Workers, and Family Support Workers.
Service expectations include visiting CIN cases within 5 days and CP cases within 24 hours or on the same day if possible. The service operates promptly to ensure children are seen without delay.
Service Coverage:
DAAT covers all Northamptonshire areas. Candidates will be supported to work within their designated geographical area, such as Daventry, Northampton Central, or Corby.
Working Arrangements:
The team operates on a 6-week duty cycle. During their duty week, candidates must be onsite for the full week and local during visit times. Outside of duty weeks, remote work is permitted, with provided equipment such as laptops, keyboards, and extra screens to facilitate productivity.
Condensed hours may be considered, but full-time commitment during duty weeks is required.
Team Environment:
The DAAT at NCT is a stable service with predominantly permanent management. Caseloads are capped at 35, currently averaging 25-30, often involving families with multiple children, meaning social workers typically work with around 5 families at a time.
Training opportunities are available for locums through overspill from permanent training allocations.
Expenses:
* £150 per week for candidates living over 60 miles from the office (proof of address required)
* £30 per day for days worked outside the duty week if over 60 miles away
* £0.45 per mile in mileage reimbursement
