Transport Manager


Location: Horley
Salary: £45, - £50,



Are you a seasoned logistics professional ready to take the reins of a dynamic transport operation? We're looking for a proactive Transport Operations Lead to oversee daily delivery activities, drive operational excellence, and inspire a high-performing team.



About the Role


In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for managing a busy transport hub, ensuring that every delivery runs smoothly, safely, and on time. You'll lead a committed team, optimise resources, and help shape the future of the transport strategy.



Your Responsibilities



1. Lead and support a team of 21 staff, including 19 drivers and 2 office-based coordinators.

2. Manage a fleet of 21 vehicles, ensuring all are roadworthy, compliant, and efficiently utilised.

3. Oversee around deliveries each day, primarily across London and the South East, with occasional national routes.

4. Champion best practices and work towards achieving FORS Bronze and Silver standards.

5. Monitor operational budgets and ensure cost-effective service delivery.

6. Maintain full compliance with transport legislation and health & safety protocols.

7. Promote a collaborative and motivated team culture through coaching and development.

8. Identify opportunities to streamline delivery routes and reduce fuel usage.

9. Ensure customer satisfaction through accurate, timely deliveries.

10. Support sustainability goals by reducing environmental impact across operations.

11. Respond to and manage incidents, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.




What We're Looking For



12. Proven experience in a transport leadership role within logistics or a similar field.

13. Strong planning and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.

14. Solid understanding of transport compliance and safety regulations.

15. Excellent communication skills and a confident, approachable manner.

16. Adaptable and solution-oriented, with a hands-on leadership style.

17. Passion for team development and continuous improvement.
