Overview
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Higford School. You will work with the education team to deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, holding a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils in an education setting.
* Work collaboratively with the education team to support pupils who may have developmental trauma, neurodiversity or SEMH needs.
* Operate within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to guide practice and clarify roles and responsibilities.
* Hold and manage a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with supervision and site leadership support.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Support the growth of apprentices, students, and therapy assistants where applicable.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered
* 1–2 years of experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting
* Experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings
* Experience communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
* Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Good time management and organizational skills
* Competence in core SaLT practice and knowledge of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention methods, and formulating support plans
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication
* Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
* Full driving license and access to a car (highly desirable)

Hours & Contract
* Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, overlap with core school hours
* Contract: Permanent (term time only), or flexibility around a full‑time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances
Salary
Up to £53,200 pro rata DOE
