At Finning (UK) Ltd, we are proud to be the world's largest Caterpillar dealership, delivering exceptional service for over 90 years. We specialize in selling, renting, supplying parts, and servicing equipment across various industries, including mining, construction, and forestry. Now, we’re looking for a passionate Service Controller to lead our team of engineers and ensure our customers receive the outstanding service they deserve!
Your Role
As a Service Controller, you will play a crucial role in optimizing resources to meet customer needs efficiently while maintaining our high standards of service delivery. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Customer Engagement: Understand and respond to customer requests, prioritizing their needs and identifying necessary actions within agreed timescales.
* Resource Allocation: Allocate the most suitable resources to address customer needs effectively.
* Job Management: Plan and manage job progress to maximize engineer productivity and ensure timely resolutions.
* Work Order Management: Open and close work orders accurately to enhance billing accuracy and timeliness.
* Team Leadership: Directly manage a team of 4-8 engineers, providing mentorship and addressing performance issues.
* Process Adherence: Ensure compliance with service processes to deliver extraordinary customer service consistently.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:
* Essential Skills:
o Strong customer service skills and the ability to build lasting relationships.
o Excellent planning and organizational skills.
o Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
* Desirable Knowledge:
o Advanced engineering aptitude and knowledge of gas & diesel engines.
o Familiarity with mobile and fixed equipment components.
o Experience with relevant applications and systems (e.g., DBSi Work order system, SAP).
* Education & Experience:
o Foundational engineering understanding and qualification.
o Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical or mechanical engineering role.
o Previous experience in a similar role within the industry is a plus.
Working Conditions
This is an office-based position with a flexible working pattern between 7 AM and 6 PM on weekdays, with potential Saturday work as needed. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and dispatching approximately 100 work orders, managing an average value of around £300k per month.
