Role Summary
We have a exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist post within the Rural Alliance Care Community Team based in Chowley and Ellesmere Port inpatient unit.
Responsibilities
* Provide occupational therapy for patients both in their own homes and in inpatient settings, working to keep them in community and supporting discharge home.
* Work across two teams – community (3 days a week) and inpatient (2 days a week) – and be flexible to support colleagues within the 8 Care Community Teams in the Neighbourhood Group.
* Work autonomously as a specialist therapy practitioner within an integrated Care Community Team to deliver high‑quality occupational therapy services through assessment and treatment of patients referred with complex rehabilitation needs.
* Act as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team and communicate information with agencies involved (health or social) to meet patients’ needs and plan effective care.
* Participate in departmental in‑service training and journal club activities to consolidate knowledge and specialist clinical skills, and take part in the CPD programme to share skills with therapy and nursing colleagues.
* Provide supervision, teaching and support to senior and junior staff, assistant staff, and act as a clinical educator for undergraduate students.
Qualifications & Experience
* Current Band 6 Occupational Therapist or an experienced Band 5 willing to step up to Band 6 level.
* Experience working autonomously within an integrated Care Community Team.
* Strong assessment and treatment skills for patients with complex rehabilitation needs.
* Effective communication and collaboration with multi‑disciplinary teams and external agencies.
* Commitment to CPD and a willingness to teach and mentor staff and students.
