Job Title: Communications and Press Officer
Ipswich Borough Council (IBC) is recruiting for a Communications and Press Officer. We are seeking to create a team that can work to the highest standard and understand the importance of meaningful engagement with residents, media, partners, and employees.
This is a rewarding role involving collaboration with press partners, writing compelling press releases, promoting local events, shows, festivals, and developing engaging communications for residents and staff.
The role will support our Corporate Management Team and Councillors, playing a key part in producing high-quality internal and external communications.
* Adapt writing styles to meet different audience needs
* Create content suitable for multiple channels, including internal and external communications
* Manage the Council’s digital and print communications, including Ipswich Direct, the website, social media, Intranet, and Staff News
* Maintain the Council’s media library and develop digital consultations
* Liaise with the press and media proactively and reactively, designing media campaigns as needed
* Research best practices in communications and embed these in the Council’s approach
* Ensure the Council’s website is current and user-friendly
* Manage communication projects, delivering on time and within budget
* Demonstrate 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
