30‑37.5 hours. Working days negotiable. Salary 31,049 £ – 37,796 £ per annum (WTE depending on experience).
About the Role
Pharmacy technicians are essential members of the PCN multi‑disciplinary team, working under supervision of pharmacists to optimise medicine use. The post holder will lead improvements to maximise safe, cost‑effective prescribing and support patient care across Middleton & Hunslet PCN (four GP practices, 10 care homes).
Responsibilities
* Undertake patient‑facing and support roles to ensure effective medicines use through shared decision‑making conversations.
* Carry out medicines optimisation tasks including effective administration, checking inhaler technique, supporting medication reviews and medicines reconciliation.
* Utilise consultation skills to work with patients and support use of medicines.
* Support new care‑home patients and sync medicines during transfers between care settings, linking with local community pharmacies.
* Assist the Clinical Pharmacist with Structured Medication Reviews (SMR), organising necessary monitoring tests prior to SMR.
* Provide expertise for public health and social care needs, including lifestyle advice, service information and tackling local health inequalities.
* Manage shared care protocols and liaise with Clinical Pharmacists for complex patients.
* Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing locally.

Skills, Ability and Knowledge – Essential
* Relevant advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of Primary Care Networks, General Practice and evidence‑based medicine.
* Awareness of NHS agenda and government targets; systems to support patient management.
* Knowledge of pharmacy law, ethics and current legislation.
* Communication skills, verbal and written, adaptable to audience.
* Influencing and negotiating skills.
* Understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues.
* Analytical thinking, problem solving, planning and organising resources.
Qualifications – Essential
* Professional registration with the GPhC.
* BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
* Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
* Experience as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community or hospital pharmacy.
* Suitable DBS check.
* Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Experience in primary care / General Practice.
