Overview
Due to the increase in treatments and care we give to our patients, we have new permanent opportunities for Healthcare Assistants to join our Theatres team based at our Southampton hospital.
Responsibilities
* Assist members of the theatre department and set up theatres ready for patient treatment. The setup will depend on each individual patient's case.
* Investigate the patient pathway to gain up-to-date knowledge and add to and follow the patient pathway, ensuring consent is obtained before any treatment.
* Prepare the patient for treatment and conduct necessary checks prior to and during a procedure, and monitor the patient to provide a high standard of care.
* Accurately update patient records and ensure the patient pathway is followed and documented.
* Be conscious of health, safety and hygiene in a theatre, monitor for hazards, and ensure issues are addressed or escalated to the Ward Manager.
* Work pattern: three days per week from 07:30 to 17:30 and one day per week from 07:30 to 17:00, with occasional Saturdays.
Requirements / Qualifications
* You may have past experience in a care home, hospital or clinical environment and may have NVQ level 1 and 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
* Strong communication skills, confident in both written and verbal communication with internal colleagues, patients, families and friends.
* Computer literacy with ability to write letters and emails, and familiarity with MS Office tools; able to learn a new system since you will use our in-house system daily.
