CFRS0170 - Project and Risk Support Officer


Join our Programmes and Risk Team!

We are looking for a Support Officer to work as part of our Programmes and Risk team to work with teams across the Service to deliver key projects and programmes and to support our management of organisational risk.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is delivering an ambitious change and improvement programme across the Service and with key partners. This role will play an important part by providing support to the management and administration of projects and organisational risks.

The Project and Risk Support Officer will provide professional support to project sponsors, leads and teams which will involve establishing processes for planning, reporting and risk/issue management in line with the Service’s framework, coordinating project and programme boards and assisting project teams with the use of the appropriate tools. They will also provide effective support to the organisation’s risk management process to ensure accurate reporting through the appropriate governance.

To succeed in this role the successful candidate should have knowledge and experience of supporting projects and/or programmes, be able to work with a range of stakeholders and be confident in the use of a range of technology.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills of project management and risk management across a range of areas and to contribute to the delivery of significant changes for the Fire Service.

Hours: 37 hours per week. We support part-time working, job-shares and other flexible options - these can be discussed at interview.

Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2027

Location: Penrith Headquarters, and home-working.

Closing date: Midnight on Sunday 30th November 2025

Interviews: Interviews will be held in-person on Tuesday 9th December at CFRS Headquarters, Penrith.
