Job Title: Engineering Resource Planner

Our client, a well-established contractor within the civil engineering and road surfacing sector, is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Resource Planner to join their growing operations team. This is a key strategic role responsible for allocating engineering resources to a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across the region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating project requirements, understanding departmental capabilities, and ensuring the right engineers are scheduled to the right jobs, all while keeping delivery timelines and resource efficiency in mind.
Job Duties:
1. Assess the scope and technical needs of each upcoming project to identify suitable engineering resources.
2. Collaborate with department heads and project managers to plan and assign engineers based on skill set, availability, and workload.
3. Maintain and regularly update internal scheduling systems to reflect resource commitments and capacity.
4. Anticipate resource bottlenecks and proactively adjust schedules to avoid project delays.
5. Produce weekly and monthly reports on resource allocation, availability, and utilisation.
6. Work closely with HR and recruitment teams on any resourcing shortfalls or future skills gaps.
7. Support the tendering and planning team with resource forecasting for bid submissions.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in resource planning, project coordination, or engineering scheduling, ideally within a civils, highways, or infrastructure environment.
* Strong understanding of engineering disciplines relevant to groundworks, road surfacing, and civil infrastructure projects.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
* Confident communicator who can liaise effectively across technical and operational teams.
* Familiarity with planning software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar tools.
* A solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
