As ES Fleet Operations Manager, you will provide strategic leadership, governance, and operational oversight for Fleet Operations across the Environmental Services portfolio. You will ensure services are delivered safely, compliantly, efficiently, and cost‑effectively across multiple operational locations. This is a senior leadership role accountable for delivering the fleet operations strategy, driving operational performance, managing key supplier relationships, and embedding a strong culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. You will play a critical role in achieving operational excellence, financial control, regulatory compliance, and service reliability while supporting sustainable business growth and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Do As ES Fleet Operations Manager
* Provide strategic leadership for Fleet Operations as part of the senior management team
* Lead safe, compliant, and efficient fleet maintenance operations across multiple sites
* Deliver operational plans aligned to organisational and contract objectives
* Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence, statutory, and regulatory requirements
* Lead, develop, and support Transport Managers and operational teams to deliver consistent performance
* Build strong relationships with customers, regulators, and suppliers to maintain high service standards
* Manage fleet maintenance budgets and control operational and parts expenditure
* Monitor performance across all locations and implement corrective action where required
* Drive operational improvement, efficiency, and service reliability
* Promote a strong safety culture and ensure effective risk management across operations
Does this sound like you?
* Strong leadership experience managing multi‑site fleet maintenance or workshop operations
* Industry recognised Engineering qualification and Transport Manager CPC in road haulage
* In‑depth knowledge of fleet maintenance, compliance, and regulatory requirements (including Operator Licence obligations)
* Proven ability to lead operational teams and deliver high performance across multiple locations
* Strong financial and commercial awareness, including budget and cost management
* Experience managing third‑party suppliers and service delivery
* Ability to implement operational standards, performance frameworks, and improvement initiatives
* Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, and risk management capability
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience working within regulated transport or fleet environments
* Demonstrable track record of delivering operational performance, compliance, and change
Vetting And Checks
As well as checking eligibility to work in the UK, you will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
