Main Duties of the Job
General Medical Services
* Provide general medical services to the practice population in accordance with current best practice and GMC Good Medical Practice guidelines.
* Conduct consultations, home visits (when necessary), and telephone/video consultations as required.
* Provide appropriate diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral in line with clinical policies and NICE guidance.
* Manage acute and chronic illnesses, promoting continuity of care and patient‑centred decision‑making.
* Provide clinical advice, support and mentorship to the wider clinical and administrative team as required.
* Maintain accurate, comprehensive and timely medical records using System One.
* Participate in the management of patients with long‑term conditions, including proactive care planning.
* Undertake medication reviews, prescribing safely and effectively in line with practice and national protocols.
* Support and participate in local and national enhanced services and QOF activities.
* Contribute to the management of urgent and on‑the‑day patient demand through duty doctor or triage sessions.
Team and Organisational Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team including nurses, pharmacists, ANPs, paramedics and more.
* Attend and contribute to clinical meetings, significant event analyses and quality improvement initiatives.
* Participate in the practice audit, governance and safeguarding processes.
* Support the practice in achieving targets and service improvements in line with PCN and ICB objectives.
* Contribute to the education and supervision of trainees, students or new staff as appropriate.
* Participate in practice development initiatives and contribute ideas for service improvement.
* Complete clinical correspondence, results and documentation promptly.
* Support repeat prescribing systems and medication safety processes.
* Contribute to workflow optimisation and use of technology to improve efficiency.
Professional Responsibilities
* Maintain registration with the GMC and perform within the scope of the NHS GP Contract.
* Engage in annual appraisal and revalidation processes.
* Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) and mandatory training.
* Adhere to the practice policies on confidentiality, data protection, equality and health and safety.
* Actively contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive working environment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the GP Register.
* Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or equivalent.
* Eligible to work in UK general practice (NHS performer list registration).
* Experience in providing primary care services within a GP practice or similar environment.
* Experience in managing long‑term conditions, acute presentations and preventive care.
