We are seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and dedicated Reception Teacher to join our welcoming primary school in Preston from 1st September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate EYFS practitioner to play a key role in shaping children’s first experiences of school and fostering a love of learning from the very beginning.
The successful candidate will ideally be available for 1-2 days during July 2026 to meet their new class and ensure a smooth transition period.
The Role
As our Reception Teacher, you will:
* Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework
* Support children’s development across the seven areas of learning:
o Communication and Language
o Physical Development
o Personal, Social and Emotional Development
o Literacy
o Mathematics
o Understanding the World
o Expressive Arts and Design
* Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive
* Observe, assess, and monitor children’s progress, maintaining accurate records and learning journeys
* Foster children’s confidence, independence, communication, and social development
* Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through nurturing classroom practice
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SEND staff, and the wider school team
* Build strong partnerships with parents and carers to support each child’s learning and transition into school
* Ensure safeguarding and welfare responsibilities are upheld at all times
* Contribute positively to the wider life of the school community
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Has experience teaching within EYFS, ideally Reception class
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum and child development
* Is warm, caring, patient, and enthusiastic
* Can create inspiring learning opportunities through play and exploration
* Has excellent communication and organisational skills
* Works effectively as part of a team
* Is committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
