Salary: £17,836.07 - £19,350.82 per annum.
Contract Duration: Permanent
Role Purpose
Justice Social Work, Scottish Borders Council, is excited to advertise a new and innovative post. The Project Coordinator, Greenhouse, builds upon the already established unpaid work greenhouse project at Eastlands Cemetery, Galashiels, which has worked in partnership with NHS Borders and community groups to grow and provide fresh produce, promoting access to healthy eating and supporting the council's sustainability and environmental goals. Due to its success, we are expanding this project and creating a specific greenhouse coordinator role.
The post holder will develop the existing project to enable more Justice service users to access volunteering opportunities. The greenhouse will operate from 2 days a week to 5 days a week, increasing accessibility for Justice Service clients (including CPO supervision, throughcare, early intervention) and fostering partnerships with other community groups. The post will supervise one other 17.5-hour post, providing guidance and oversight. Managed by a Senior Social Worker, the post requires working with individuals with complex needs and trauma backgrounds, aligning with the values of the Justice Service.
The responsibilities include managing the daily operations of the greenhouse, including buildings, machinery, tools, and equipment, ensuring health and safety compliance through risk assessments. The post holder will participate in team meetings, collaborate with the unpaid work service, and maintain administrative systems to support effective project performance.
This is a new position, created from the Project Coordinator, Unpaid Work role, and is advertised as a WEPE band A, subject to review upon appointment.
