The Opportunity:
Our Ecology business is highly successful and as part of our ongoing plans to develop our teams, we are looking to appoint an experienced Ecologist with at least 4 years of experience for the following locations: Stoke, London, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle.
The ecology team works alongside several other environmental professionals within the firm, including planners, archaeologists, arboriculturists, landscape architects, and engineers. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team is desirable but not essential. Project work will be varied, with a strong focus on renewable energy, infrastructure, residential schemes, and other commercial development projects.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Managing ecological projects (commensurate with experience), assisting team leads with managing resource allocation and financial budgets, addressing client feedback, and ensuring effective communication on all projects.
2. Producing and overseeing ecological appraisals, reports, licence applications, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, EPS licences, and similar documents.
3. Experience with Biodiversity Net Gain is advantageous.
4. Carrying out ecological surveys as necessary and ensuring surveys meet required standards.
5. Assisting team leads with the preparation of fee proposals.
We are seeking someone who has:
1. Experience managing ecological projects to completion and reporting to standards required by planning authorities and regulatory bodies.
2. Experience as an Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects.
3. Experience with licence applications and holding at least one Protected Species licence, particularly a bat licence.
4. Experience preparing technical reports such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulations Assessments, and others.
5. Experience in Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and designing solutions (desirable but not essential).
6. Qualifying Member or higher of CIEEM.
