About Our School
Located in Andover, our school accommodates up to 60 pupils aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. We pride ourselves on creating a safe and supportive environment where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered. Your Role and Responsibilities
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment for our students. Your responsibilities will include:
* Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of school premises, including buildings and grounds.
* Performing cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
* Supervising school cleaning staff.
* Promoting health and safety throughout the school.
* Carrying out porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
* Reporting any issues to the Head Teacher and maintaining school premises, furniture, and fittings.
* Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
* Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking and waste disposal.
* Managing emergency cleaning duties, such as gritting and spill clean-ups.
* Coordinating an annual deep clean of frequently used areas.
* Maintaining cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels.
* Securing the school premises as the main key holder, including locking and unlocking as needed.
* Conducting regular checks of security systems and reporting any breaches.
* Advising the Head Teacher on security and safety matters.
* Carrying out regular health and safety checks and reporting any issues.
* Providing safe access to the school during cold weather conditions.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
* Previous property maintenance or caretaking experience, preferably in a school environment.
* Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
* A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
* Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
* The ability to work effectively in an environment with SEMH children.
* A willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
* A valid UK Driving License and access to your own transport.
