More about the role
Are you ready to take on a vital role in maintaining and developing the technology backbone of a dynamic and growing organisation? We’re looking for a proactive IT Service Desk Engineer who thrives on variety, takes pride in delivering robust technical support, and is passionate about ensuring systems run smoothly and securely every day.
In this role, you'll be at the heart of our IT operations, ensuring that infrastructure, security, and end-user support are consistently maintained to the highest standard. You'll carry out essential daily, weekly, and monthly checks—monitoring server health, verifying backups, auditing security protocols, and ensuring our physical and digital environments remain secure and efficient. From managing server room conditions to overseeing anti-virus alerts and vulnerability scanning, you’ll be responsible for keeping our systems resilient and ready.
You’ll also play a key role in the IT Service Desk, offering responsive 1st and 2nd line support to internal users. Whether it’s resetting passwords, provisioning new users, managing licensing, setting up secure VPN access, or troubleshooting hardware issues—your work will keep our teams connected, productive, and protected. You’ll also coordinate the setup of new desks and workstations, and manage equipment procurement and deployment.
As part of the broader IT team, you’ll contribute to strategic projects including patch management, firewall configuration, VoIP system administration, SharePoint governance, and disaster recovery planning. You’ll also take ownership of documentation, from drafting and maintaining SOPs to contributing to policy development across key areas like information security and capacity planning.
At a higher level, you'll have the opportunity to manage and optimise core systems such as Active Directory, Azure Entra, Office 365, Intune, SFTP, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, CRM tools, and RMM platforms. Your work will also include server auditing, MDM oversight, vulnerability remediation, and ensuring smooth integration and updates for third-party tools.
What You’ll Bring:
* Solid experience in desktop and infrastructure support
* Hands-on knowledge of tools such as Active Directory, Office 365, Azure, and Windows platforms
* A keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to system audits and monitoring
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with internal users and third-party providers
The Application Timeline
* A first stage video call with the internal recruitment team (15 minute call)
* An introductory phone call with the hiring manager (15 minute call)
* A face to face or video call with the hiring manager (45 minutes- 60 minutes)
What’s In It For You
* £25,000 + up to 20% of your annual salary, paid as a bonus.
* This role is based at our Blackpool office.
* 37.5 hours per week. We offer flexible working hours between our core hours of 8am- 8pm Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday morning work.
* The opportunity to complete formal qualifications and learn on the job in a successful, growing organisation.
* And many more benefits to support your wellbeing and professional development.
