Background: Bradford District and Craven Mind (BDC Mind) is a thriving independent mental health organisation, making a positive difference to the mental health and wellbeing of people of all-ages living in Bradford district and Craven. From April 2025, the Hope and Light programme delivering culturally responsive mental health services became available for people from South Asian, Black African, Black Caribbean, and Central and Eastern European communities. It is really important that we reach these communities who have been underserved for a long time. Purpose of the post In this role, you will look at referrals and chat to people using a ‘Get to Know You’ session. You will be the first point of contact for many people accessing Hope and Light services. It is crucial that you listen and work with the person to understand their needs and guide them toward the right support for them. You will be kind, welcoming, confident at supporting people, and able to recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns. You will work with partners and other organisations across Bradford District and Craven, supporting referral pathways and helping people access vital mental health services. Building strong, trusting relationships will be at the heart of your role—making sure every individual feels heard, valued, and respected. Strong organisational skills will be key for this postholder, as you’ll help keep records accurate and systems running smoothly. This is an opportunity to play a vital role in shaping a programme (and system) that is accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive, making a real impact on people’s lives. Key duties: Welcome and guide people into Hope and Light services, ensuring they feel supported from the very start. Build trusting relationships with people from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds, making sure they feel heard, valued, and respected. Manage and respond to referrals for Hope and Light services in a timely and effective way. Organise and lead ‘Get to Know You’ (GTKY) sessions to explore individuals’ needs and support goals. Help individuals access the right support within Hope and Light, as well as other services across Bradford District and Craven. Work closely with all people in the programme to strengthen referral pathways and improve access to support. Keep accurate records and input data onto the programme’s database to ensure smooth service delivery. Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions that shape the programme. Represent Hope and Light at local events, helping to promote services and connect with individuals and community organisations. Provide essential administrative support, including scheduling, data management, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Take responsibility for ensuring Safeguarding, Information Governance and Equality & Diversity requirements, and all other Company policies are complied with and seek to improve these where possible. Person specification Qualifications Essential A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent), Grades A-C. Desirable Evidence of ongoing professional development A qualification relating to health and or social care/community engagement. Experience Essential Working with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Being part of a team and working together to make an impact. Handling a busy workload and staying organised. Meeting deadlines and managing appointments. Experience of using online database systems. Desirable Supporting both adults and young people. Lived experience of mental health difficulties. Working one-to-one or in groups with people experiencing mental health challenges. Skills Essential Building trust and strong relationships with people of all ages.
