Senior Engineer – Infrastructure – Leiston
Location: Leiston, Suffolk
Purpose of the role: As a Senior Engineer on our £124m+ major highways project in Leiston, part of the Sizewell C development, you will take full responsibility for setting out, engineering control and quality and will coordinate and mentor the site engineering team. You will work with the wider engineering team to oversee packages including structures, earthworks and roadworks.
What you will be doing:
* Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and assist in project planning and resource coordination.
* Manage subcontractor performance to ensure alignment with project timelines.
* Write, review, and implement Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
* Supervise the site engineering team, delegate tasks and mentor junior engineers.
* Control project schedules, attend coordination meetings and update progress as required.
* Ensure work complies with project specifications, raise design‑related RFIs and TQs and maintain accurate documentation.
* Communicate with the commercial team for accurate financial reporting, manage snagging systems and minimise site waste.
About you:
* Work safely and proficiently interpret data and drawings.
* Advanced setting‑out skills, including level, EDM and GPS knowledge.
* Relevant civil engineering experience (highways, rail, water, aviation).
* Strong leadership, delegation and problem‑solving abilities.
* NVQ Level 3 or higher, SMSTS, CSCS card and expertise in Office 365/CAD.
