What you’ll be doing
as a Senior Business Analyst
1. Engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, up to Head of Department, to build trusted relationships and ensure alignment between business needs, digital strategy, and project outcomes.
2. Work collaboratively with project teams, portfolio leads, product owners, architects, and service delivery teams to drive value-focused outcomes.
3. Lead Business Analysts on projects where more than one BA is assigned, supporting quality and consistency of delivery.
4. Apply a wide range of Business Analysis techniques to analyse current services and processes against problem statements, needs, and desired outcomes.
5. Elicit, analyse, and document functional and non-functional requirements using appropriate tools and techniques.
6. Produce clear As-Is and To-Be process maps, identifying opportunities to optimise and improve business processes.
7. Proactively question and challenge assumptions, always placing the customer at the centre of decision-making.
8. Support teams to define outcomes, prioritise work, agree scope, and work towards a minimum viable product (MVP).
9. Apply Agile and Waterfall methodologies appropriately across the project lifecycle, maintaining an agile mindset in all aspects of work.
10. Drive prioritisation of requirements with Product Owners and Project Managers to maximise value and minimise cost.
11. Author and contribute to high-quality documentation in line with the Business
12. Analysis service offering, securing appropriate stakeholder approval.
13. Ensure documentation and deliverables are complete, accurate, and fit for purpose to enable successful delivery with minimal defects.
14. Support the Lead Business Analyst in driving quality standards and best practice across the BA community.
15. Present complex business and technical concepts clearly and succinctly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
16. Work with the Lead BA to support continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of agile principles across Thames Water.
Base location – Hybrid – Clearwater Court, Reading.
Working pattern – 36 hours Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role
17. Experience working as a Business Analyst in a digital project environment.
18. Extensive experience applying Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies and associated tools (e.g. Azure DevOps).
19. Proven ability to work on complex projects with multiple delivery partners and stakeholders, including large-scale platform or transformation initiatives.
20. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
21. Confidence working independently, using sound judgement and experience to drive outcomes.
22. BCS (or equivalent) Business Analysis Diploma.
23. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
