East Kent Colleges Group is seeking a dynamic Head of Built Environment at EKC Canterbury College to drive forward our vision for excellence across this vital curriculum area.


Responsibilities

As Head of Built Environment, you will manage a diverse programme that includes:

* Construction & Bricklaying
* Electrical & Plumbing
* Design, Surveying & Planning

You will champion high standards, foster a positive and supportive culture, and ensure that our learners develop the skills and confidence to succeed in their future careers.

* Lead & Inspire– set the vision for the Built Environment team and nurture a culture of ambition and excellence.
* Ensure Quality– take responsibility for programme standards, teaching excellence, and learner success.
* Drive Innovation– shape and evolve curriculum delivery to meet industry needs and community priorities.
* Manage Resources– effectively oversee a delegated budget to maximise impact and sustainability.
* Empower Learners– support every student to achieve their full potential and progress into meaningful careers.

About You

Current industry knowledge and a strong understanding of modern practices are essential, alongside a commitment to excellence and a strategic outlook.

What we’re looking for:

* A degree-level qualification and a recognised teaching qualification (DET/PGCE/CertEd).
* Demonstrable teaching practice at a good or outstanding level.
* Experience of curriculum planning, development, and delivery.
* A proven ability to manage and lead a professional team to deliver excellent outcomes.
* Up-to-date industry knowledge and understanding of current practices.
* A commitment to innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
