Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant to join The Directorate of Respiratory Medicine at James Cook University Hospital for 12 months, including on-call cover 1:6.
Candidates interested in Lung Cancer, Interstitial Lung Disease, Non-Invasive Ventilation, Bronchiectasis, TB, or Obstructive Sleep Apnoea would complement our team.
The service includes a 35-bed inpatient ward, an 8-bed Respiratory Support Unit, Lung Cancer Nursing Team, TB Nursing Team, COPD Outreach, COVID-19 virtual ward, domiciliary NIV, and a Specialist Respiratory Physiology Laboratory. We also run specialist clinics for cancer, pleural disease, difficult asthma, TB, bronchiectasis, sleep, and NIV. We collaborate with Newcastle for ILD cases requiring consensus and anti-fibrotic treatment.
Main duties of the job
* Maintain high clinical standards in Respiratory Medicine.
Clinical/on-call responsibilities include:
* Managing responsibilities related to your special interests.
* Covering colleagues' leave and absences.
* Supervising and managing junior staff.
* Participating in annual appraisals with the Clinical Director.
* Engaging in CPD activities supported by the Trust.
* Performing any other duties as required.

Qualifications & Clinical Skills
* Full GMC registration, on the Specialist Register or within six months of CCT.
* Completed training in respiratory and general medicine.
* Multidisciplinary approach to lung cancer management.
Experience
* Relevant experience in your declared specialist interest.
* Evidence of clinical audit, research, or service development.
DBS Checks
All new staff require DBS clearance, paid via salary deduction.
