Mencap is seeking passionate Female Support Workers to join our incredible team in the Leigh area of Wigan.
As a Female Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
We are looking for 3 female support workers to join our wonderful team. This is an opportunity to support 2 lovely ladies within the family home.
The Location
This role is based in Wigan in the WN7 area
Who will I be supporting?
Both ladies have learning disabilities and complex health needs. They require full support with all aspects of daily life.
What will I be doing?
Your duties will include medication administration, moving and handling, peg feeding, and personal care. These ladies enjoy music, arts and crafts, football, and good company.
Please only apply if you have a good sense of humour and can support these ladies with a lovely smile each day — this is very important to them.
What hours will I be working?
The shifts are 8am to 8pm across 7 days, so flexibility is important.
What we are looking for
* A genuine passion for supporting others.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Preferred driver, but not essential.
Contract options
* Full-time: 37.5 hrs
* Part-time: flexible hours based on availability
Shift times
All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can plan your personal and social life!
* Days: Between 07:00-22:00
* Waking Nights: 22:00-07:00
Sleep-in option: You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £62.45 for sleep-in shifts.
*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
*Due to the nature of this service, we are looking for female-only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act, Schedule 9, Part 1.
