Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Sausage Maker / Production Operative to join our food production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, mixing, filling, and packaging of high-quality sausages and other meat products in line with food safety standards. This hands-on role requires attention to detail, knowledge of meat processing, and a commitment to maintaining hygiene and production efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and process meat products, including mincing, mixing, seasoning, and stuffing sausages according to recipes and specifications.
* Operate machinery such as grinders, mixers, sausage fillers, and vacuum packers safely and efficiently.
* Monitor product quality throughout the production process, ensuring consistent taste, texture, and appearance.
* Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area, following strict hygiene and sanitation standards (HACCP compliance).
* Label, weigh, and package finished products accurately for distribution or sale.
* Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, seasonings, and packaging supplies; report shortages to the supervisor.
* Assist with stock rotation and cold storage organization.
* Follow all health and safety regulations and company policies.
* Work as part of a team to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
* Saturday work – essential.
Requirements
* Previous experience in meat processing or food manufacturing is essential.
* Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards (Level 2 or 3 Food Safety certification is a plus).
* Ability to work in chilled environments and handle raw meat products.
* Physically fit and able to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes or equipment.
