Job Overview
The successful candidate will provide a counselling service to the pupils and staff of The Grange School and will report directly to the Deputy Head (Pastoral) via the Head of Pupil Support.
Working hours are 32.5 hours per week during term-time only.
Key Responsibilities
1. Offer pupils individual counselling and support.
2. Work with a diverse range of issues including bereavement and loss, transition, eating disorders and self-harm, depression, anger management and erratic behaviour, abuse of any kind, anxiety and fears.
3. Provide consultation to other pastoral staff.
4. Liaise with the Head of Pupil Support.
5. Discuss with the Head of Pupil Support when outside agency involvement is needed.
6. Maintain secure case records of counselling sessions, as directed.
7. Attend regular supervision with a qualified supervisor (contribution to costs will be made by the School).
8. Work in accordance with the School's child protection policies.
9. Report regularly to the Head of Pupil Support on service usage and the types of issues presented.
10. Perform duties in line with the codes of practice and ethics of BACP, UKCP, or equivalent organizations.
11. If time permits, collaborate with the Head of Pupil Support and Pastoral Deputy to enhance the wider mental health strategy.
