Job Title: Engineering Specialist Department: Health and Safety Reports to: Health and Safety Senior Specialist Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm Salary: £43,713 Position Summary: The post holder is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving health and safety standards in the workplace in order to comply with Company Policies, Procedures (SEC and ETL) and Health and Safety Legislation, guideline as set by the HSE. Promotion of health and safety in the workplace and co-ordinate accident prevention and health and safety measures. The post holder is responsible for the monitoring and continual improvement of the Epson Telford site Health and Safety Management systems. Main job functions: To support the design and implementation of new processes, machinery and systems to ensure the Health and Safety Department deliver the highest standards for existing and new business (FMCG Departments – Fast moving consumer goods) To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations on behalf of the Company To implement, monitor and advise on Health & Safety Management systems To develop and implement training plans which ensure all employees receive training necessary to ensure Health & Safety compliance Maintain ISO 450001 via an activity project, continuous monitoring, review and improvement on the standard To manage, develop and implement continual improvement practices and ensure that areas of responsibility operate in a manner that accord with appropriate statutory guidance and policies, procedures Review plans and specification for new machinery and equipment to make sure that they meet safety requirements To support Engineering Department with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect analyses) and recommend solutions as per PUWER requirements To oversee and support with Companywide PUWER Assessments, LOLER control, engineering and any other assessments Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, hazards and occupational illnesses, and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence. Continually improve hazard control processes, methods and programs. Measure and audit te effectiveness of hazard control programs Qualifications (essential): NEBOSH Certificate ONC or equivalent in Engineering Qualifications (desirable): ISO 45001 Experience required (essential): Previous experience in Health and Safety management Previous experience in an Engineering and manufacturing environment PUWER knowledge LOLER knowledge Leadership abilities and project management – team building, estimating, and scheduling. A strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and the ability to interpret and advise accordingly. Strong organisational skills, logical approach and attention to detail.
